Notes for Sarah Walker
Sarah was born ca. 1700 to Maj. Thomas Walker and his wife, presumably Alice for that is the name on his tombstone. Her father became Chief Justice, July 1718, during the royal governorship of Woodes Rogers.
Within seven months of her father's death, Sarah was joined in marriage, in Nassau on New Providence Island, to Hon. William Fairfax, 27 March 1723.
Sarah and William were blessed with four children, the first two were born in Nassau, The Bahamas and the last two in Salem or Marblehead, Essex County, Massachusetts, where William had been appointed Collector of Customs for the Crown:
George William Fairfax (1724 - 3 April 1787)
Thomas Fairfax (1726 - 26 June 1746)
Anne Fairfax (1728 - 14 March 1761)
Sarah Fairfax (31 Dec. 1730 - 22 Jan. 1761)
A few days after giving birth to Sarah, Sarah Walker Fairfax passed away. Her dying wish was for William to soon marry her friend Deborah (Gedney) Clarke of Salem, the widow of Francis Clarke.
