Notes for Anne Jessup
Ralph Hunt was named beloved brother in law in Edward Jessup's 1666 Will. The name of Ralph Hunts wife is unknown she died before her husband and is not mentioned in his will. The name "Elizabeth" is confused with Edward Jessup's daughter "Elizabeth" who married Thomas Hunt;

The first name of Ralph Hunts wife may have been "Anne" because she had a daughter with the same name.

The wife of Ralph Hunt was the sister of Edward Jessup -husband Ralph Hunt is mentioned as brother in law in Jessup's 1666 Will. John Burroughs was also mentioned as a brother in law he was married to Elizabeth the widow of Thomas Reed in 1666, she gave birth to John Burroughs Jr, that was announced in the court of Newtown in 1665. This proves that Elizabeth was the sister of Edward Jessup.

In 1652 Ralph Hunt is recorded at the Dutch outpost of Middleburg New Amsterdam with Edward Jessup, Samuel Toe and his son in law William Reed and Thomas Reed who was married to Elizabeth the sister of Edward Jessup. Rev. John Moore was the minister of the Presbyterian Church in Hempstead Long Island and arrived in New Amsterdam about the same time. William Reed was a carpenter and built the church, and then a small house for Rev. Moore

The wife of Ralph Hunt had a sister Hannah Jessup who married John Moore Jr. and second Thomas Pettit this is determined by a 1678 Will of Elizabeth Burroughs who gave a bequest to "Hannah Pettit" the wife of Thomas Pettit a executor and friend mentioned in her husband John Burroughs Will who died three months before his wife Elizabeth Burroughs.

The daughter of Elizabeth Jessup and her first husband Thomas Reed was Mary Reed who married Samuel Moore the brother of John Moore Jr. both were sons of Rev. John Moore. When John Moore Jr. died he named his brother Samuel Moore as guardian of his widowed wife and three minor children Thomas, John & Hannah Moore.

Edward Hunt was the eldest son of Ralph Hunt Sr. inherited his fathers plantation… Ralph & Anne Hunt's other children were John, and Samuel, and daughters Ann and Mary, wife of Theophilus Phillips. Samuel settled in Jamaica, L.I. John was a magistrate in Newtown for some years, and left a son Ralph, and perhaps others. Edward married Sarah Betts. He became a man of estate, and died in Newtown in 1716, having five sons and as many daughters, to wit, Edward born February 4th 1684, Richard, Ralph, Thomas, Jonathan, Sarah, Martha, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Abigail. The two sons last named continued in Newtown, but Edward and Richard settled in Hunterdon, County, NJ. [6]

Some Hunt family descendants removed New Jersey with their Pettit family cousins. The Newtown Precinct, a large township, was created in 1751, and Sussex County was created from Morris County two years later on June 8 1753. As noted in the history the township of Newtown in New Jersey later known as Newton, it was named after the colonial village of Newtown Queens, New York from where the Hunt & Pettit families had originally came from.
