Notes for Thomas Jefferson Geraghty
American screenwriter. After graduating school, Geraghty headed for New York and worked as a reporter for the New York Herald and the New York Tribune. As a film publicist, he later moved into writing for one reel comedies. He was hired by Famous Players-Lasky to run their studio when they opened in New York. After several years in New York, he performed the same function for them in their London studio before returning to the United States in 1922. He began to churn out screenplays for various studios. Over his lifetime, he wrote over seventy films, these include, among other highly regarded films, "When the Clouds Roll By," and "Mr. Robinson Crusoe" both with Douglas Fairbanks, "Elmer the Great" with Joe E. Brown, and "It's the Old Army Game" with W.C. Fields. He also directed "Love Boomerang", produced "The Spanish Jade" and "Ebb Tide" and edited three other films. He had four children with his wife, three of whom had successful careers in show business, writing, producing and acting.
