Notes for George Lumpkin Maloney
George Lumpkin Maloney was the son of Samuel Norwood Maloney and Nancy Elizabeth Cupp. He was born January 12, 1848 in Marietta, Cobb Co., Georgia. His father Samuel Norwood Maloney was a sheriff of Cobb County and a member of the Georgia General Assembly during this time. In 1857 George traveled with his father and other family members from Marietta, Georgia to Commerce, Texas.
He met his future wife, Miss Lelia Farrow, in about 1877 while she was on a visit to her Uncle, Dr. C. J. Hundley. When she returned to her home in Missouri, he followed her there and they were married December 12, 1877 in Warrenton, Warren Co., Missouri. They were the parents of ten children. George passed away October 24, 1906 in Commerce, Texas after a brief illness. His burial was in Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce.
