Jacob Cummings Faubion's parents were Jacob and Priscilla (Boydston) Faubion. His father was instrumental in establishing the Faubion Chapel in Clay County.
His first marriage was to Harriet Jane Broadhurst, whose parents were Joseph and Dianah (Faubion) Broadhust. Jacob and Harriet were married on March 14, 1844, in Linden, Clay County, Missouri, and they had six children: Sarah Diahana, Thomas Wilson, William Cummings (Bill), Margaret Isobel, Joseph Bascom, and Harriet Jane.
His second marriage was to Frances Rebecca Ligon, whose parents were Charles S. and Virginia Ligon, on 16 May 1855, in Platte County, Missouri. They had four children, three of whom are: Lilburn C., Littleton Louis (or Lewis), and Jacob Clay.
He was a generous person, often loaning money at a very low interest rate.
Jacob's obituary states, "Uncle Jake lost his life from the effect of a very small flesh wound in his finger which led to septicaemia." 1175
