Notes for Rose Maria O’Neale
Research Notes: 1835 - Marriage-5/26/1835-Montgomery County, Maryland
National Intelligencer, May 27, 1835: "married on Tuesday, the 26th inst. By the Rev. Dr. Matthews, Mr. Robert Greenhow of this city, (DC) to Miss Rose Maria O'Neale, of Montgomery County, Maryland."
David Rankin Barbee: "On a lovely May morning in 1835 he (Robert Greenhow)
took her to the old family parish church at Rockville and were married.
Officiating minister: Rev. Dr. Matthews, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Washington.

Ran across this in the New York times, April 12, 1858.
Grand Fancy Ball at Mrs. Senator Gwin's Residence in Washington.
Mrs. Senator Douglas (Adele Cutts) of Illinois, as Aurora, was decidedly la belle du bal, and elicited universal admiration. "Her presence was glorious as her state; her beauty of that overpowering kind, Whose fare description only would abate; I'd rather leave it much to your own mind, Than lessen it by what I can relate Of form and features; it would strike you blind Could I do justice to the full detail __ So (?nchily for both) my phrases fall."
Mrs. Greenhow, (Rose O'Neal) of Washington, was a most comely Housekeeper of the Old School;; and although the costume was not as showy as some, yet the esprit of the wearer made her "glorious as a diamond richly set."
Miss Greenhow, (Mary Jane Greenhow Lee) of Washington, appeared to great advantage as the White Lady of Avenel.
