55Isaac Edson came to Milford, NY from the Kennebec River, Maine, about 1793, according to the manuscript history of the Town of Milford by Ezra Stevens, and kept the first store in town. Later, with his brother Jacob, he erected an ashery and "carried on quite a business" until 1804. Then they moved about two miles west, to Edson's Corners, Milford, and built an ashery and another store there, and a tavern. Later he moved to New Milford, Susquehanna Co, PA, where he kept a tavern, then to Cadis, Bradford Co, PA, where he had an oil mill nad at Bear Creek, near Franklinville, Venango Co, PA, where he kept a store. Finally, he went to the home of his son, Isaac Baxter Edson, in Machias NY.
His descendants by Persis Bill held annual Reunions in Machias or vicinity for well over 60 years.
