Notes for James Martin Edson
EGA #202-210
55Was born on the farm of his Ferguson grandparents in Paradise Township, Illinois. He came by covered wagon to Harrison Co, Missouri with his parents at the age of five years and he spent the greater part of his life in that county. Uncle Jim, as so many called him, was stricken with paralysis at the age of twenty-six years, just five years after he and Margarette were married. Three times in a little over seven years did the parents bear a cruel loss; three little graves in the Russ cemetery bear record of their sorrow. In 1910, he purchased a half section of land in Hale County, Texas. His wife was very homesick, so fifteen months later they moved back to Missouri.
He was a Methodist and attended services in the Edson School until the Hazel Valley Church was built. Later in life he attended church at Willow Row.

Notes for James Martin Edson
James died in February. The snow was so deep the family couldn’t get his body to the cemetery, so he was buried temporarily in a snow bank. He was formally buried in the Kidwell Cemetery that next April.
