Daughter of Elbert S. and Clara B. Catlin. The 1920 U.S. Census shows Florence as a school teacher living with her parents in Leavenworth. The 1930 U.S. Census shows her residing in a rooming house in Ames, Iowa, and working as an instructor at a college--perhaps Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, which became the present-day Iowa State University.
